but if you want to still keep up with my photographic endeavors, then you should probably go here-> http://starsexplodinginthenight.tumblr.com/
Finally finally finished.
Looking at them all here like this doesn’t make it seem like that much, but I put all of the photos I posted in my iPhoto including the extras, and it totaled to 867 photos. That’s a lot. It was definitely a struggle some days to get motivated, and other days I’d have the idea and it would be easy. I almost wish that I had kept track of how much time I spent taking and editing photos, but I’m sure it would amount to full days. I learned that I didn’t even need to go far from my house to take a photo that I liked. I’d guess over half of them were taken within a mile radius of my bedroom. This project made me realize that if I wanted to plan photos, I could and they could actually work out how I wanted them to. It also showed me that I could spend not a lot of time at all and still produce something nice.
On the one hand, I had the intrinsic motivation (AP Psych super cool y’all) to make myself happy and feel accomplished each day, but also the extrinsic motivation of other people looking at it who were expecting to see something. Of course I didn’t have any guidelines and could make my own rules, so if there was a day where I wasn’t really happy with anything, I could still post it and know that I didn’t like it. Fortunately, those days were not too frequent.
I think the project accomplished what I wanted it to. I think I did grow as a photographer. I have a better sense of what I like and what my “style” is. It’s easier for me now to choose which photos I like more and which ones I like less. I’m more familiar with my camera and photoshop and how to get what I want. I still have more growing to do, but this definitely helped a lot.
I hope I can still take photos on a daily basis, just not everyday of the year. It’s a little exhausting. I’ll probably start a new blog soon to post new photos, so I’ll post that here when it’s made.
Thanks to all of you who followed along with this throughout the year. Any and all feedback was appreciated.
